Morning
- Meet your desert guide and camel team in Douz (“Gateway to the Sahara”)
- Briefing on the route, safety tips, and desert etiquette
- Load the camels with gear and begin the trek south into the desert
Afternoon
- Trek across golden dunes and small plateaus
- Stop for a picnic lunch in a shady spot or near a tamarisk tree
- Continue toward the first wild camping site
Evening
- Set up camp in the dunes
- Traditional Berber dinner cooked over a fire
- Enjoy mint tea, local music, and stargazing in the silence of the Sahara
Overnight: Wild camping in traditional tents or open air under the stars 🌌
Morning
- Early breakfast and start to avoid midday heat
- Cross a variety of desert landscapes: soft dunes, stony desert (reg), and dry riverbeds
- Observe unique desert flora and possible wildlife (fox tracks, lizards, beetles)
Afternoon
- Break for lunch and rest during the hottest part of the day
- Short siesta before continuing the trek
- Arrive at a new camp site in a more remote section of the Sahara
Evening
- Campfire dinner with traditional flatbread (tabouna) baked in the sand
- Exchange stories with guides and fellow travelers
- Another peaceful night under the vast desert sky
Overnight: Desert camp (basic comfort, but magical experience)
Morning
- Last leg of the trek: the landscape slowly shifts, and palm trees appear on the horizon
- Reach the Ksar Ghilane oasis by late morning or midday
Afternoon
- Relax in the natural hot spring at the oasis
- Optional: visit the nearby Roman fort (Tisavar)
- Lunch at a local camp or oasis restaurant
- End of camel tour – guests can choose to:
- Stay overnight at Ksar Ghilane in a camp or ecolodge
- Return to Douz by 4x4 or continue to Matmata, Djerba, or Tozeur
